BACIN: Bay Area Community Investment Network

Neighborhoods

The Northern California Coalition for Communities has identified 52 priority neighborhoods in the Greater San Francisco Bay Area (includes 10 counties: Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin, Napa, San Francisco, San Mateo, Santa Clara, Santa Cruz, Sonoma, and Solano) where the median household incomes of residents is 80% or less than that of residents in other areas of the same county. These are identified by census tract number. In general, these neighborhoods include areas in the Bay Area that are recognized as having high rates of poverty and unemployment and are often blighted and polluted.

The map shows the geographic outlines of these neighborhoods. Individual census tract numbers can be found at the Northern California Coalition for Communities website: www.ncccsf.org.
